2023年10月14日下午，由广州美术学院主办的“附体——托比恩·卡瓦斯博作品展”在广州美术学院大学城美术馆开幕。此次展览由冯博一、谭红宇策划，共展出托比恩·卡瓦斯博近年创作的23件《管状雕塑》和《堆》系列陶瓷作品和一件现场即兴创作作品。

On the afternoon of Oct 14, 2023, the exhibition "Dependence – A Solo Exhibition of Torbj∅rn Kvasb∅" hosted by Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts opened at the Art Museum of GAFA in university town. Curated by Feng Boyi and Tan Hongyu, the exhibition showcases 23 ceramic works of "Tubular Sculpture" and "Pile" created by Torbj∅rn Kvasb∅ in recent years, as well as one on-site improvisational work.

广州美术学院院长范勃在致辞中提到：“托比恩先生作为二十世纪七十年代挪威当代陶瓷艺术运动的主要参与者，在制陶技术上的创新以及陶瓷艺术性表达上的探索独具一格，始终致力于推动挪威陶瓷艺术的当代发展与国际当代陶瓷艺术界的相互学习与交流。本次展览的举办，不仅有助于激发珠三角地区当代陶瓷艺术、陶瓷产业的生产力与创造力，更是在中挪两国之间构建起一座桥梁，增进两国陶瓷艺术的相互理解、学术交流和密切合作。”

Fan Bo, president of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, mentioned in his speech: "As a major participant in the Norwegian contemporary ceramic art movement in the 1970s, Mr. Torbj∅rn Kvasb∅ is unique in his innovation in pottery technology and exploration of artistic expression of ceramics, and has always been committed to promoting the contemporary development of Norwegian ceramic art and the mutual learning and exchange of the international contemporary ceramic art community. This exhibition not only helps to stimulate the productivity and creativity of contemporary ceramic art and ceramic industry in the Pearl River Delta region, but also builds a bridge between China and Norway to enhance mutual understanding, academic exchanges and close cooperation between the two countries in ceramic art."

挪威总领事海歌女士表示：“托比恩先生是挪威非常重要的陶瓷艺术家。他的家乡位于一个名为韦纳比格徳的小镇，他创作的艺术将他带到了世界不同的地方。在疫情爆发前，他经常访问中国，参加展览、主持大师班以及举办研讨会，并与中国艺术院校和艺术家保持密切联系。文化交流是挪威和中国关系的重要组成部分。它有助于在我们两国人民之间架设桥梁、增进理解。我们很高兴看到这个项目将我们的艺术家和艺术爱好者聚集在一起，探索陶瓷艺术的无限可能性。”

Ms. Hege Araldsen, Consul General of the Kingdom of Norway in Guangzhou, said: "Mr. Torbj∅rn Kvasb∅ is a very important ceramic artist in Norway. His hometown is in a small town called Venabygd, and his art has taken him to different parts of the world. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, he often visited China to participate in exhibitions, conduct master classes and hold seminars, and maintained close contacts with Chinese art schools and artists. Cultural exchanges are an important part of the relationship between Norway and China. It helps build bridges and increase understanding between our two peoples. We are excited to see this project bring our artists and art lovers together to explore the infinite possibilities of ceramic art."

齐喆院长代表工艺美术学院致辞：“在这个时代，陶瓷艺术得到了进一步的发展，涌现出许多让艺术界惊艳的、在各个方面都有巨大突破的‘先锋性’作品，带给我们丰富而深刻的艺术享受和精神启示。托比恩先生就是其中一位，他自觉地将陶瓷艺术的创作更加转向对个人情感和对时代感受的靠近，通过不断的对材料、技艺、烧成方式的研究，赋予作品一种更加内在的、本质的精神力量。本次展览以及相关工作坊活动的组织都是对广州美院工艺美术学院的陶瓷艺术设计专业教学的有力支持，也是我院国际陶艺交流活动的高水平成果之一，我期待，通过这种高层次的交流，能够激励我们学院师生继续探索，在创作中真正展现出源于中国、源于东方的那种鲜活气息和审美逻辑。”

Dean Qi Zhe delivered a speech on behalf of the School of Arts and Crafts: "In this era, ceramic art has been further developed, and many 'pioneering' works have emerged that have amazed the art world and made great breakthroughs in all aspects, bringing us rich and profound artistic enjoyment and spiritual inspiration. Mr. Torbj∅rn Kvasb∅ is one of them. He consciously turns the creation of ceramic art closer to personal emotions and feelings of The Times. Through continuous research on materials, techniques and burning methods, he gives the works a more internal and essential spiritual power. The organization of this exhibition and related workshop activities is a strong support for the teaching of ceramic art design in the School of Arts and Crafts of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and it is also one of the high- level achievements of the international ceramic art exchange activities of our school. I hope that through this high-level exchange, the teachers and students of our school will be encouraged to continue their exploration. To truly show the fresh breath and aesthetic logic from China and the East in their creations."

策展人冯博一进行现场致辞及导赏，他表示：“这次托比恩作品展的主题叫‘附体’，所谓‘附体’指涉的是一个人的身体，除了本身的灵魂以外，还被其它灵魂体所依附和占据的含意。我认为托比恩具身之外的‘附体’就是他艺术的‘魔法’，或作为一种艺术的灵魂附着、栖身于他肉身之上的平衡。今天在广州美院美术馆的展览，可以说是他四十多年来始终如一地致力于陶瓷艺术，并通过他的‘手艺’，在土与火的燃烧中，堆叠和直接呈现出他的‘魔块’”。

The curator Feng Boyi delivered a speech and guided a tour. He said, "The theme of this exhibition is called 'Dependence'. The so-called 'Dependence' refers to the meaning of a person's body, which is attached and occupied by other soul bodies besides its own soul. In my opinion, the 'Dependence' of Torbj∅rn Kvasb∅ outside the body is the 'magic' of his art, or the balance that the soul of art attaches to and resides on his body. Today's exhibition at the Art Museum of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts can be said that he has been consistently committed to ceramic art for more than 40 years, and through his 'craft', in the burning of earth and fire, stacking and directly presenting his' magic'."

艺术家托比恩对广州美术学院的同仁表示感谢，并在致辞中提到：“我非常感谢在中国，特别是在广州所经历的友好和专业的接待。非常感谢广州美术学院美术馆和工艺美术学院的工作人员，你们为这次展览付出了巨大的努力。”

The artist Torbj∅rn Kvasb∅ thanked his colleagues at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and mentioned in his speech: "I am very grateful for the friendly and professional reception I have experienced in China, especially in Guangzhou. A big thank you to the staff of the Art Museum of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and the School of Arts and Crafts, who have worked so hard for this exhibition."

在本次展览的契机下，托比恩·卡瓦斯博先生捐赠了《堆叠20号》和《管17号》两件作品予我校收藏，在开幕现场举办了捐赠仪式，蔡拥华副院长为托比恩·卡瓦斯博先生颁发了作品收藏证书。此次展览持续至11月5日结束。

On the occasion of this exhibition, Mr. Torbj∅rn Kvasb∅ donated two works "Stacking No. 20" and "Tube No. 17" to GAFA for collection. The donation ceremony was held at the opening ceremony, and Vice President Cai Yonghua presented Mr. Torbj∅rn Kvasb∅ with a certificate of collection of works. The exhibition will last until November 5th.
